Outside of spring temperate change each year in North Texas, February, March, and April is the best time, depending on soil temperature. Weed seeds begin germinating, when ground temperature reaches 55 degrees. I have seen some years as early as late January. Rule of thumb for the Fort Worth area is early to mid February.
